Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a great dystopian novel, a lot of moral ambiguity. I was also intrigued about how there were multiple “apocalypse” scenarios that were destroying humanity, climate change being one, and man made plague another. Also Atwood had a great use of creationism themes, seen in the characters Crake and Oryx, with our protagonist, Snowman, as a prophet of sorts. I enjoyed reading about those three most of all. The writing was obviously superb, I can tell that each word was perfectly chosen. I liked this better than The Handmaid’s Tale. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
