This one is short and to the point. Sometimes that’s all you need.
Glorious by Bernice L. McFadden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I finished this book 2 days ago. I’ll be back later with a review. Still taking it all in.
Edit: I was unsettled after finishing this. I wanted a happy ending, or as happy as a story like this could be. I wanted a nice pretty package and a fairy tale. I wanted Easter to be able to claim her story and the recognition she deserved. But, that’s what’s so great about Ms. McFadden’s stories; they are real and raw. And you’re going to feel emotion in every word she puts on paper.
From the unresolved issues with leaving her sister behind, to not knowing the real fate of her husband, and even the unrequited love for Rain. In life, you don’t always get that fairy tale ending. Sometimes you don’t get the comeuppance. You don’t get the vindication. But, you do get to decide how you handle life’s situations. And Easter burning HATE was more a show of personal victory over her own demons that being able to one up the ghosts of her past.
