So, I have over 700 books on my TBR and I’m re-reading The Fifth Season, but that’s not going to stop me from wanting to read more! Now that I’ll be spending more time indoors as it gets colder, here are some books that have recently entered my radar to read this fall.
Run by Kody Keplinger (Scholastic) –A review of this book in VOYA Magazine (a magazine run by YA librarians) came under fire recently for it’s misrepresentation of bisexuals in this book–that bisexual people and books with this content needed a mature reader warning. The YA community exploded when the magazine stood by this harmful rhetoric instead of just editing the sentence. Now I definitely need to read it!
The Soldier’s Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian (Avon Impulse) — This is the first M/M Romance published by Avon books and that is pretty freaking exciting. Glad a major romance publisher is willing to expand their publishing repertoire.
The Queen of Blood (The Queens of Renthia #1) by Sarah Beth Durst (Harper Voyager) — Looking forward to reading this. I had a chance to see the author at a SFF panel at the Brooklyn Book Festival this past weekend. After the panel I had to go volunteer at a booth, but near the end of the day, I saw her walking by and we chatted a bit! And she signed my copy of my book! (One of the nicest authors I’ve ever met!)
